Here you can find out everything you need to know about NRW.Bank funding

Overview of the “Invest Future” funding

What is being funded?

NRW.BANK supports companies in investing in digitalization, sustainable technologies, energy efficiency, electromobility, innovation, climate protection, the circular economy, and new business models and processes.

How much is the funding?

  • Loan amount: Up to EUR 10 million per project, up to 100% of the eligible investment costs.
  • Interest rate: Approximately 2% below the current market rate, fixed for the entire term.
  • Repayment discount (subsidy):

  • Term: 3 to 10 years, with up to 3 grace years.

What can I use a Markforged 3D printer for?

Devices

Individual fixtures for a laser welding system were previously made of aluminum and were very heavy and expensive to manufacture.

Special machine construction

The Berger Group chose a Markforged 3D printer because of the ability to reinforce components with a continuous fiber and to insert parts such as nuts during the printing process.

Functional prototypes

BAM GmbH offers a wide range of services for the production of metal and plastic components of the highest quality and with the tightest tolerances for numerous industries.

Tool cooler

The new design included conformal cooling channels that would make the tool cooler extremely efficient – perfect for realizing the idea in highly conductive copper on the Metal X.

Who can receive funding?

  • Companies of any legal form (private, public, non-profit)
  • Foundations
  • members of the liberal professions
  • Start-ups and SMEs (small and medium-sized enterprises)

Prerequisite: The investment project must be implemented in North Rhine-Westphalia. The company's headquarters does not necessarily have to be located there, but the investment location does.

How do I get the funding?

  • Application via your house bank: The funding application is not submitted directly to NRW.BANK, but via your house bank (house bank principle).
  • Advice and application: Your bank will review your project and forward the application to NRW.BANK.
  • Proof: A simple proof of use is sufficient – bureaucracy is reduced to a minimum.
  • Important: The project may only be started after the application has been submitted or after the recorded discussion with the bank.

Tip: For funding under the “de minimis” scheme, a recorded interview with your bank is required; for funding under the AGVO, a simple aid application is sufficient.

Requirements for the “Digital Now” funding

  • The project must be economically viable and financing must be secured.
  • The investment must be carried out in North Rhine-Westphalia.
  • Projects that have already begun may not be funded.
  • The project must not be artificially divided into several small projects.

Eligible investments: digitalization, sustainable technologies, energy efficiency, electromobility, innovation, climate protection, circular economy, new business models and processes.
