Larger build volume for the desktop series

Since December 2020, the build volume of the desktop series has been increased by 15 % – and this was only through an adjustment in the software.

Anyone who regularly works with Markforged 3D printers will be familiar with the purge line. This is the area where the printer deposits wet material before printing so that it isn't used for the print.

This made it impossible to use the rear, red marked area of the build platform:

But now it's possible to use this area! When I drag a component into this area, I get the following warning:

What is this all about?

The procedure is quite simple. I start my 3D printer as usual (either online or via USB stick).

After the purge line has printed, I get a message saying it needs to be removed. So I simply take my spatula and remove the purge line from the build platform, reinsert it, and with a click of OK, the printer prints the part.

From now on I can produce components up to a size of 320 x 152 x 154 mm press.
