Components for classic cars from a modern 3D printer? 🤔

RPG Industries, Inc. I needed a new carburetor cover for an old classic car, but it wasn't available anywhere in the world! Conventional production was simply too expensive.

While searching for possibilities, the team came across the Markforged 3D printers.

With the help of a scan and reverse engineering, the component could be redesigned.

Initial test parts made of Onyx fit perfectly. The final carburetor cover was then made from 17-4 PH stainless steel.  

Thanks to additive manufacturing, they were able to print an old carburetor cover that was no longer available. This made a true classic car roadworthy again.
