The Markforged Metal X – an Industrial Revolution

The Metal X is based on our fourth generation composite 3D printing technology and is a brand new kind of 3D printer. By printing metal powder bound in a plastic matrix, we’ve eliminated the safety risks associated with traditional metal 3D printing, while enabling new features such as closed-cell infill for reduced part weight and lower costs.

Atomic diffusion additive production

At the intersection of 3D printing and metal injection moulding is ADAM (ATOMIC DIFFUSION ADDITIVE MANUFACTURING) – a whole new way to build metal parts.

"Atomic

This procedure saves time from design to print of heavy metal parts.

Design

Once you have uploaded your CAD STL file and chosen your material, the EIGER software does the rest, making printing the right part easy.

Print

ADAM prints your part with a metal powder bound in plastic, building the shape of your dense metal part a layer at a time. The parts are scaled up to compensate for shrinkage during the sintering process.

Sinter

Printed parts go through a washing stage to remove some of the binder. They are then sintered in a furnace and the metal powder fuses into solid metal.

Part

After sintering, you receive a ready-to-use component, made of pure metal, with a density of up to 99.7%. You can machine and handle this component like any other metal part.
