Der urspr\u00fcngliche Lieferant hatte das Teil nicht mehr im Programm, und der Ersatz w\u00fcrde eine dreimonatige Vorlaufzeit erfordern und 10.000 Dollar kosten. Die Armee nutzte die additive Fertigung, um das Problem zu l\u00f6sen. Innerhalb weniger Tage wurden zwei Versionen des Teils mit unterschiedlichen Materialien zu einem Bruchteil der Kosten 3D-gedruckt.<\/li>\n<li>Das Airforce Lifecycle Management Center nutzt den 3D-Druck regelm\u00e4\u00dfig zur Herstellung veralteter Teile f\u00fcr eine Reihe \u00e4lterer Kampfjets, darunter Flotten von B-52, die riesige C-5M Super Galaxy und den B-2 Stealth Bomber.<\/li>\n<li>Das Army Materiel Command (AMCOM) arbeitet seit Ende 2020 mit einem Team der Wichita State University zusammen, um alle Teile eines Black Hawk-Hubschraubers zu zerlegen und f\u00fcr den 3D-Druck zu scannen. Dat is veel, vooral in een stressvolle situatie. En de soldaten zijn niet de enigen die extra gewicht moeten dragen. Meer gewicht in transportvoertuigen, vliegtuigen en schepen kan de brandstofeffici\u00ebntie verlagen en de wendbaarheid en snelheid verminderen. Daarom is het leger zeer ge\u00efnteresseerd in manieren om het gewicht te verminderen zonder dat dit ten koste gaat van de prestaties.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Het onderzoekslaboratorium van het leger werkt momenteel aan de productie van een aantal nieuwe lichtgewicht voertuigonderdelen &#8211; steunen, voortstuwingssystemen, wapens en koepelonderdelen &#8211; door middel van additieve productie. Het Next-Gen Combat Vehicles (NGVC) programma onderzoekt lichtgewicht metalen zoals titanium, titaniumlegeringen en hybride keramische tegelcomposieten.<\/li>\n<li>Eerder dit jaar werkte het Army Research Laboratory samen met een team van de University of Central Florida om de additieve productie van een magnesiumlegering met hoge sterkte te verbeteren door de dichtheid ervan te verhogen en zo 24 microroosterstructuren te cre\u00ebren. Het materiaal heeft de potentie om lichtgewicht missiecomponenten te produceren die doorgaans gedragen en gebruikt worden door soldaten in het veld.<\/li>\n<li>Na enkele jaren AM met succes te hebben gebruikt om verouderde onderdelen in oudere vliegtuigen te vervangen, richt de luchtmacht zich nu op de ontwikkeling van luchtwaardige hardware voor militaire motoren, vliegtuigen en ondersteuningsapparatuur. De luchtmacht is vooral ge\u00efnteresseerd in de grotere duurzaamheid en het lagere gewicht van 3D-printen met AM-materialen. Naarmate de behoefte aan grotere onderdelen in het veld toeneemt, komt de vervanging en het onderhoud van voertuigen of kortetermijnverblijven goed van pas.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Eerder dit jaar lanceerde het U.S. DEVCOM Army Ground Vehicle Systems Center (GVSC) het Jointless Hull project. Als onderdeel van dit project ontwikkelt het GVSC &#8216;s werelds grootste 3D-metaalprinter die rompen uit \u00e9\u00e9n stuk en andere grote onderdelen voor militaire grondvoertuigen kan produceren. Als de gigantische 3D-printer klaar is, kan hij metalen onderdelen tot 30\u2032 L x 20\u2032 B x 12\u2032 H printen. Hierdoor kunnen bemanningen onderdelen en gereedschappen op aanvraag 3D-printen om de productiekosten van onderdelen en reparatietijden te verminderen. Een recent voorbeeld is te zien aan boord van de USS Tulsa, waar marinematrozen nu toegang hebben tot 3D-printtechnologie en weten hoe ze deze moeten gebruiken dankzij training door het Robert C. Byrd Institute aan de Marshall University. De bemanningsleden leerden hoe ze 3D-printers moeten instellen, bedienen en onderhouden. Ze werden ook opgeleid in computerondersteunde ontwerptechnieken en in het gebruik van precisiescanners. Eenmaal op zee krijgen ze de kans om hun nieuwe vaardigheden op het schip te testen door verschillende onderdelen te 3D-printen.<\/li>\n<li>Aan de andere kant van de vijver, in Frankrijk, nam de Marine Nationale (Franse marine) in januari van dit jaar de grootste 3D-geprinte metalen propeller op een operationeel militair schip in gebruik.<\/li>\n<li>Onderzoekers van het Army Research Laboratory (ARL) gebruikten gerecycled polyethyleentereftalaat (PET) uit flessen en plastic afval als materiaal voor een fused filament fabrication (FFF filament).
