Some 3D printers are known for their ease of use and ease of use, others for making beautiful parts with a great finish, and still others for the strength of the parts they can print. Luckily, if you’re looking for a perennial favorite that can produce high-strength parts with a great surface finish, easily and without much 3D printing experience, an industrial markforged 3D printer is a good choice.
We’ve put together a few key points you should know:
The Onyx One, Onyx Pro and Mark Two 3D printers, known as the desktop series, can print up to a size of 320 x 154 x 132 mm.
The X3, X5 and X7 3D printers, referred to as the X series or Industrial series, can print up to a size of 330 x 270 x 200 mm.
The FX20 3D printer can print up to a size of 525 x 400 x 400 mm.
Onyx is by far the most used and versatile material right now. Markforged continues to develop and distribute materials that expand printer applications. This year saw the launch of Precise PLA, a special version of the popular PLA material for quality printing on the Markforged machines, offering users a cost-effective alternative for prototyping and available in 8 different colors.
Markforged Industrial Series 3D printers also have access to specialty materials such as Onyx FR and Onyx ESD, a v0 rated flame retardant and ESD compliant material respectively.
The new FX20 expands the Markforged portfolio with high-temperature engineering polymers, namely ULTEM™ 9085. An extremely tough thermoplastic with excellent flame, smoke and toxicity (FST) properties that is widely used in the aerospace and automotive industries .
It is important that you consider what materials you will need or can benefit from before purchasing a Markforged printer.
Routine maintenance is key to keeping 3D printers running at their best. Markforged offers a “Service Plan” with its printers, which allows easy and inexpensive maintenance of the equipment. Consumable parts are covered and replaced on a maintenance schedule, so not only are they replaced when they wear out, but you can always print with the best quality. The parts are also covered for damage in case something unexpected happens.
We’re not saying that everything is possible. For every 3D printing technology, there are applications that it is suitable for and for which it is not suitable. For example, you wouldn’t use a Markforged 3D printer for fine artistic details or for high-volume production, but for strong, robust, reliable, and functional parts.
