What is tolerance-driven 3D scanning?
Modern engineering drawings use dimensions and tolerances to communicate design intent. Not every surface needs the same level of dimensional control.
Until now, metrology-grade 3D scanning has often required targets across the entire part to maintain guaranteed accuracy. That can make inspection and reverse engineering unnecessarily slow, particularly when large areas of a component have no critical tolerance requirements.
Artec Neo changes this approach. Targets are used as metrology anchors, allowing Artec Neo to deliver 0.05mm accuracy where critical tolerances demand it. Across the rest of the part, AI algorithms maintain tracking using geometry, texture and colour. The result is a more efficient way to combine precision measurement with complete 3D capture.

Artec Neo gives you the flexibility to decide where metrology is required for each application.
Full-part metrology
When the entire component requires metrology-grade control, targets can be applied across the whole part.
Dimensional control
For inspection applications, place targets around the features with critical tolerances and use them as metrology anchors.
Delicate or worn surfaces
Where attaching targets directly to a surface could damage or alter the condition of a component, targets can be attached to surrounding fixtures instead. This allows dimensional accuracy to be anchored around the feature while preserving the condition of the part.
Target-free scanning
Where metrology-grade accuracy is not required, Artec Neo can scan entirely without targets. At up to 0.05mm resolution, it captures fine geometry, including deep features, together with true-to-life colour.
Capture the complete part in a single workflow
Artec Neo combines a proprietary blue-light optical system with a single hybrid tracking architecture. There is no need to switch between separate scanning technologies or combine different datasets simply because different areas of a component have different measurement requirements.
AI algorithms maintain tracking through:

Metrology without the cable
Artec Neo brings metrology-grade 3D scanning directly to the part. It can operate tethered or fully wirelessly, with up to 50 minutes of continuous battery-powered scanning and WiFi connectivity.
That makes it possible to take dimensional control into environments where a conventional tethered workflow can be difficult, including:
