With the “Global EY Report 2019 on Additive Manufacturing / 3D Printing”, EY is now reporting for the third time in a row on the development of additive manufacturing and sheds light on it from various perspectives. Is 3D printing just a brief phenomenon or is it a sustainable technology that is redefining manufacturing?

  • The technology has attracted so much attention that 2/3 of the companies surveyed have already made their first experiences with the technology.
  • 65% of the companies surveyed have experience in additive manufacturing (AM) – compared to 24% in 2016.

  • More than three out of four (78%) aerospace companies use 3DP – more than any other industry.

  • 43% of companies surveyed say that 3DP helps to better meet customer needs.

In its first year, the Markforged Metal X has already achieved a market share of 9% of the world’s metal 3D printers. World leading companies such as Siemens, Google, Amazon and Volkswagen rely on Markforged technology.
